This new-look hub offers a detailed look into Wyre’s history and heritage.

The brand-new Wyre Community & Heritage Centre was officially opened in spring 2023, replacing the old building which had fallen into a state of relative disrepair.

The new centre is just a short walk from the island’s pier and is full of information about Wyre’s past, including its Viking history and farming legacy. It’s the perfect introduction to the island if you’re visiting for the day, with information on Cubbie Roo’s Castle and St Mary’s Chapel, as well as family history.

Self-service teas and coffees are available for a donation, and a public toilet is open on-site too.
