Food & Drink

The diversity of food and drink on offer in Orkney is truly remarkable. In addition to our famed local beef, lamb, salmon and shellfish, we’ve also got delicacies such as the prized meat that comes from the legendary seaweed fed sheep of North Ronaldsay, Orkney’s most northerly island.

And don’t forget our cheese, oatcakes, fudge, beer – the islands boast two acclaimed breweries - whisky, gin, ice cream, wine and rum, along with a multitude of other locally produced delights.

It’s no surprise that Orkney’s produce continually wins awards, though nobody in the local food and drink industry here ever rests on their laurels. Orkney’s producers are enormously proud of what they bring to the marketplace, but they also have a fiercely protective attitude towards the Orkney brand.

The end result is a fabulous variety of top-quality products, all brought to you by producers who are passionate about their craft.

Best of all, there’s lots of our local food and drink that travels well and is easy to take back home.

You’ll also find many of our producers online, so you can enjoy that taste of Orkney while planning your next trip to the islands.
