Crystal Brook is a cosy single-storey modern house, offering a warm welcome, in a relaxing atmosphere.
We are situated on the coastal road mid-way between Kirkwall and Stromness, in the quiet village of Orphir. This makes us a perfect base to travel across the whole of the Mainland. We have off-road parking on-site, making it easy to unload and load the car. We have two comfortable bedrooms both with en-suite showers. One room has a king size beds and the other room can be configured as a double with super king bed, a twin or a family room with either a cot-bed or fold-down bed.
We accept pets by arrangement, with one room available for pet accommodation. We charge a one-off supplement of £12 for each dog. There are lovely walking routes nearby.
Our breakfast room has extra seating so guest can use the room during the day to make hot drinks or help themselves to cold drinks, crisps and biscuits, all of which can be enjoyed whilst taking in the stunning views over farmland to Scapa Flow.
We offer a varied breakfast menu but will endeavour to meet Guest dietary requirements as long as we are given advance notice. After breakfast, there are plenty of interesting ancient and modern sites to visit or if you like walking we have some fabulous hill, loch and coastal walks to try. There are several beautiful beaches both sandy and rocky where you can enjoy a picnic. We are close to Houton Ferry Terminal should you wish to travel to Hoy to visit the Lyness Museum. There is also the Lifeboat Museum or you could drive to Rackwick Bay and walk to the Old Man, one of the most famous stacks in the world, if you do this there are plenty of sea birds to spot and watch out for the Mountain Hares and Sea Eagles. Finally if you are interested in wildlife, there is plenty to try and see, from the Sea Eagles on Hoy, the seals and if you are lucky Whales and Dolphins on the costal walks, Otters around the coast and lochs and there are also several RSPB Bird Reserves, were you are likely to see some interesting and even rare birds.
Ask anything about where to visit - we can help with ideas.
We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful islands.
