At Annie's Place a very warm, helpful welcome awaits you. Our comfortable, cosy, clean and well equipped ground floor apartment is in the centre of the quiet, historic village of Palace with direct access to the shoreline of Birsay Bay, with dramatic coastal walks, sunsets and occasional aurora sightings.

Annie’s Place is a self- catering apartment within the 18th century St Magnus Kirk Manse in Palace Village, Birsay, the ancient capital of Orkney. The beaches and rock pools of Birsay Bay, with birds and seals always in sight, are just over the garden wall. The cliff walks of the St Magnus Way, along the rugged West Mainland coastline, are accessible on foot from the doorstep. The Norse settlement on the Brough of Birsay is a short walk away, while the Kitchener (Hampshire) Memorial is reached by means of the cliff walk to Marwick Head. The grounds of St Magnus Kirk and the 16th Century Earl's Palace are the view from your Annie's Place window.

The archaeological World Heritage sites (Skara Brae, Maeshowe and the Ring of Brodgar), local museums, RSPB reserves and fishing lochs are close by. Information about all there is to see and do in Orkney is available in Annie's Place and all are easily accessible by car or local ferries.

Anne and Robin Barr regularly redecorate and refubish this cosy and well equipped apartment. We have a short-term let licence ensuring for our guests all the safety features this requires. Heating, full kitchen facilities, TV, games, books and Wi-Fi internet are inclusive, as are all bed linen and towels.

Guests give 5 star reviews highlighting the welcome, cleanliness and comfort of Annie's Place, and highly recommend it as an ideal holiday location and experience. Our groundfloor apartment is also suitable for those with limited mobility. Your well-behaved dog can also enjoy your holiday with us - we can also take two small dogs by arrangement - with a one-off charge of £40 to cover extra cleaning costs.

History and beautiful scenery is all around you as you drive to Annie's Place. Only a few miles away you will have passed the road to Kirbuster Firehoose/Farm Museum  before driving through Twatt hamlet on Boardhouse Loch. The  working Barony Mill is on your left just before  you drive down to Palace Village with glorious sea views of Birsay Bay.

The village shop, Palace Stores, with new cafe facilities is just next door to Annie's Place. JP Orkney's Honesty box with tasty home made items is across the Kirkyard, and the award winning Birsay Bay Tearoom is just up the road, 300 yards from your doorstep.

We are usually at home to welcome you and answer any queries that might have. We look forward to welcoming you to Annie's Place over and over again!
