Taste of Orkney Awards winners

More than thirty islands businesses were shortlisted across 12 different categories in the 2024 Taste of Orkney Food and Drink Awards, organised by Orkney Food and Drink and sponsored by NorthLink Ferries and Highland Park.

The awards covered everything from the best bar and takeaway meals to the finest bakery, fish, drink, and dairy producers. There were also accolades for the top café, local food retailer and best peedie product.

Finalists were shortlisted after a public vote on the Orkney.com website, with thousands of votes cast.

Winners for each category, chosen from the public vote, were announced at a gala dinner, provided by Beiting & Brew, in Kirkwall Grammar School on Saturday night. Each successful business received a prestigious Taste of Orkney Food and Drink Awards trophy to proudly display at their premises.

Kerry Leask, project manager for Orkney Food and Drink, said: “A massive congratulations to all our winners on the night. It's the perfect reward for their hard work, creativity and commitment to providing innovative and delicious products. All our shortlisted businesses should be proud too, especially given our awards are based on a public vote.

"Orkney's food and drink producers are real ambassadors, showcasing the very best of the islands. It has continued to be a challenging time for the food and drink and hospitality industry, but our members have worked tirelessly to continue to provide the best products and standard of service possible. We host the Taste of Orkney Food & Drink Awards to celebrate the sector here, and to recognise the effort put in by all our members."
