Orkney producers heading south for festive events

Talented food, drink, and craft makers from Orkney are getting ready to showcase the very best products from the islands across the UK in the run-up to Christmas.

Creative Orkney and Orkney Food & Drink members will be heading south to major festive fayres at the end of November. In total, 16 businesses will be taking part, aiming to attract new customers and promote Orkney’s fabulous food and drink and creative sectors at the same time.

Visitors to the Good Food Winter Show at the NEC in Birmingham will be able to get a real taste of Orkney between 27 – 30 November.

Argo’s Bakery, Deerness Distillery, Eviedale Bakehouse, Highland Park Distillery, the Island Smokery, Lochside Roasters, the Orkney Distillery, Orkney Gin Company, and Stockan’s Oatcakes will all be taking part, with thousands of visitors expected at the four-day food festival.

Closer to home, Creative Orkney will be well represented at Deck the Halls in Glasgow’s SEC between 28 – 30 November.

Annie Glue Knitwear, Aurora Jewellery, Elsa Tait Design, Flow Glass, the Harray Potter, Jane Glue, and Ortak are all heading to the event alongside 100 other exhibitors, with gifts, food and drink, homeware, and much more on offer.

The visits are supported by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Orkney Islands Council through the Orkney Marketing project.

That's not the end of the festive fun for Orkney's producers, though. More than 30 food, drink, and craft makers will be taking part in the annual Creative Orkney and Taste of Orkney Christmas Fayre at Kirkwall Grammar School on 6 - 7 December, with plenty of shopping opportunities, tastings, and offers available to help folk get into the seasonal spirit.
