Eighteen Great Taste stars are heading home to Orkney after several talented local food and drink makers claimed the coveted awards for their products.
Deerness Distillery, Donaldsons of Orkney, Eviedale Bakehouse, Golden Slipper Brewing Company, Jollys of Orkney, Orkney Distillery, and Orkney Gin Company all received stars at the 2026 Great Taste Awards.
Organised by the Guild of Fine Foods, the awards are the world’s largest food and drink accreditation scheme, with entrants judged by a panel of more than 500 industry experts ranging from chefs and food writers, to buyers and retailers. Thousands of products from across the UK are put forward for consideration annually.
This year, Eviedale Bakehouse scooped a hat-trick of titles, with two stars each for its Seeded Sourdough Beremeal Crackers and Sourdough Beremeal Crackers, and a single star for its Rosemary Sourdough Beremeal Crackers.
Seafood firm, Jollys of Orkney, claimed two stars for both its Hot Cured Smoked Salmon and its Smoked Mackerel. The Orkney Distillery was also awarded two stars for its Man O'Hoy Rum, and a single star for its blended malt whisky, Kirkjuvagr Fara.
Kirkwall-based butchers, Donaldsons of Orkney, took home single stars for its Haggis Supremes with Pepper Sauce and its Fish Pie, with Deerness Distillery winning a star for its Orcadian Moon Coffee Liqueur. Fellow spirits producer, Orkney Gin Company's Mirrie Dancer Gin won a star, and there was double success for Golden Slipper Brewing Company, with a star each for its Sea Buckthorn & Turmeric Kombucha, and its Nanling Mountains Kombucha.
