Set a course for you own island paradise

Have you ever dreamt about owning your own island?

How about buying two islands, or even three? If you’re thinking big, then there is a property portfolio in Orkney that might be just the thing for you.

The tiny, uninhabited islands of Faray, the Holm of Faray and the Red Holm, found in Orkney’s north isles, are up for sale. You could have all three for £200,000 and then sit back with your stunning sea views, big skies and green fields for company.

The islands can be found in-between their more substantial cousins of Westray and Eday. Faray is the largest of the three and its last residents departed in the late 1940s. They left behind their former homes, found scattered across the island, as well as the old school building, which is now a bothy.

Nature would surround you on all three islands. There are stunning sandy beaches where you’d be guaranteed peace and quiet, and you’d have the craggy coastline and cliffs all to yourself.

There’s also plenty of bird and sea life to enjoy - both Faray and the Holm of Faray are vital breeding and haul out sites for grey seals. In fact, both islands are Sites of Special Scientific Interest and Special Areas of Conservation.

The downside? There’s no ferry service, shops or Saturday night action.

But, if you’re planning to purchase three deserted islands, we guess you’re not in it for the nightlife.
