Sixteen local businesses will be showcasing the very best Orkney food, drink, arts and crafts at a major trade fair in Glasgow later this month.
The Creative Orkney and Orkney Food and Drink members will be attending the annual Country Living Christmas Fair at the city’s SEC between the 15th and 18th of November.
The event will feature hundreds of designers, makers and producers from across the country, with thousands of visitors expected over the course of its three days.
The combined Orkney presence has been selected as one of the Country Living Glasgow highlights this year too, with extra promotion of the islands throughout the main hall, in publications and online.
Creative Orkney members taking part include Annie Glue Knitwear, Aurora Jewellery, Harray Potter, Island Design, Kirsteen Stewart, Orkney Storehouse, Ortak and Zoe Davidson Jewellery.
The Orkney Bakery, Deerness Distillery, J Gow Rum, Orkney Creamery, Orkney Distilling Ltd, Orkney Gin Company, Orkney Isles Preserves and The Island Smokery will all be representing Orkney Food and Drink at the event.
Destination Orkney will also be attending to promote the islands as a fantastic visitor destination.
Edgar Balfour is project manager for Orkney Food and Drink and Creative Orkney. He said: “The Country Living event was very successful for our creative sector last year, so we decided to combine the two groups in one large space this time around. It’s the first time we have done this but we are confident it will be very successful for us all.
“We are also joint sponsors of this year’s Christmas Fair and we’re looking forward to extra interest in our food, drink and creative products, as well as showcasing the incredible range of talent and innovation Orkney has to offer.”
