Struggling for Christmas shopping inspiration? Check out our festive food and drink gift guide for some exciting ideas from the islands.

Christmas is coming, and that means the festive shopping season is already here.

Picking the perfect present for your friends, family and loved ones can be quite a challenge these days, but here in Orkney we’ve got plenty of suggestions that could make things much easier for you.

Here's our Orkney Food & Drink Christmas gift guide, featuring some of the finest producers you’ll find anywhere.

With breweries, distilleries and even a wine company, Orkney is the perfect place to taste-test a tipple of something special over the festive season.

All three of our award-winning gin producers have some unique gifts available for Christmas. The Deerness Distillery has launched 200ml bottles of its Scuttled Gin, which can be bought locally or online. Pay the distillery a visit to pick up some hampers and other gifts in their Christmas shop this month too.

Orkney Distilling has a fantastic four-pack on offer, featuring 5cl miniatures of its Kirkjuvagr, Aurora, Harpa and Arkh-Angell gins. The Fjórir gift pack is available via the official website.

The Orkney Gin Company has two very special gins available at the moment. Its Sloe & Crow Perfect Pairing Box includes a smooth sloe and crowberry gin accompanied by the perfect tonic. Meanwhile, the Camp 34 Lemon Gin Pairing Box comes packed with a powerful lemon punch. Order yours via the Orkney Gin Company website.

It’s not all about gin though. Our local rum distillery, VS Distillers, has spiced rum Christmas baubles available this year. The four packs full of the signature J.Gow Rum are available locally or online.

The festive season is definitely a fun time of year for foodies!

Spice up your holidays with a delicious Christmas Chutney from the Little House Larder. It’s packed with seasonal flavours, including cranberries, clementines, cloves, cinnamon and ginger. The chutney is ideally served with cold cuts and cheese and biscuits, and can be bought locally.

Orkney Isles Preserves has Beetroot, Cranberry & Red Onion Chutney, Cranberry & Cherry Brandy Chutney and Christmas Jam available to accompany your festive food. Jars can be bought across Orkney, or special gift baskets can be ordered by contacting Glynis on email or phoning 01856 711 219.

It has been an incredibly busy year for Orkney Craft Vinegar, but the team has still pulled out the stops to produce a new product this Christmas. The limited-edition Rosehip Vinegar is fermented in oloroso sherry casks for a month, then fermented into a vinegar once again. It’s perfect for mulled wine or cranberry sauce, and can be ordered online.

Finally, if you have a sweet tooth, then Argos Bakery definitely has the answer. As well as its traditional Orkney Tablet and Orkney Fudge packs, you can grab a bag of fantastic Festive Ginger Creams. The bakery has shops in both Kirkwall and Stromness, and packs are available at other stores in Orkney too.
