See Rousay and know Orkney where a warm welcome awaits you at Trumland Farm.
Situated close to the pier where the roll on roll off ferry serves the island group of Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre on a regular daily basis. We are an ideal base from which to explore this diverse isle also known as the 'Egypt of the North' on account of the wealth of archaeology spanning 5000 years of history including the 'Great Ship of Death' at Midhowe. Walk amidst the wildlife on the RSPB reserve home to Red throated Divers, Hen Harriers and Merlins. Clamber along the cliffs and watch the wheeling Guillemots, Fulmars and Kittiwakes. Return and relax at one of the three self-catering units of varying sizes at Trumland Farm previously the home farm of Trumland House which the infamous Little General had built in 1875 to a design by David Bryce. The apartments are beside each other in a recently converted farm steading so suitable for extended families or small groups.
The Rousay (aka red unit) is the largest with a patio and sweeping sea views. It has two double bedrooms, one upstairs where there is a large bathroom with spa bath and shower. The one double downstairs has a day bed which can be used as a single allowing room for a low single futon bed also, therefore, suitable for two children. There is an adjoining shower wet room. The sitting room has a futon sofa bed or a single bed.
The Wyre (aka white unit) has one large bedroom upstairs with a king size bed and a single bed. There is a sofa bed downstairs and a toilet but anyone sleeping there would have to go through the bedroom in order to use the shower upstairs. It also has a patio with a south west sea view.
The Egilsay (aka green unit) is a cosy studio bedsit with a sofa bed suitable for a single person or couple. It has a shower wet room. There is no sea view from this unit. A high chair, travel cot or wooden cot can be made available on request. Dogs can be accommodated by arrangement. Short or longer lets are available on a daily rate. Seasonal organic farm produce may be available. Bikes are available to hire. Courtesy transport to and from the pier by arrangement for guests.
