The Voe is within easy walking distance of shops, galleries, cafes, restaurants, library and the prestigious Pier Arts Centre. The award-winning Stromness Museum, the swimming pool with health and spa suites as well as a gym, beaches and a challenging 18 hole golf course are all within the town.

Buses connect Stromness with Kirkwall and the South Isles and there are regular connections to other areas to explore the rich history and the unspoiled natural environment of our islands.
The passenger boat to Hoy leaves Stromness harbour and a minibus takes visitors to and from Rackwick. The walk to the famous 'Old Man of Hoy' can be completed in time for the return boat to Stromness, with careful planning!
Orkney Ferries sail to the North Isles and there are short flights available too, including the shortest scheduled flight in the world!
