Accommodation

We have 4 letting rooms which comprise of 2 double rooms one of which has disabled access and 2 twin rooms.

All our rooms have recently been decorated, new furniture installed, new lovely comfy beds with soft 300tc Egyptian cotton bedding and larger sized duvets for added comfort.

All our rooms are ensuite with an electric shower, complimentary Cole and Lewis toiletries and Egyptian cotton towels.

Each room is well equipped for your stay. They all have a flat screen TV with built in freeview, complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits, blackout blinds, thermostat on the radiator, desk and chair, hairdryer, USB plugs, Free Wifi* and breakfast is included.

The rooms on the first floor have views over the surrounding farm land out to sea.

The ground floor room is suitable for disabled access and has an ensuite wet room.

Restaurant and bar

The conservatory restaurant is where breakfast and evening meals are served, with panoramic views across the Pentland firth with mainland Scotland in view, from here you can also see other islands such as Stroma, Swona, Switha and Flotta.

Our conservatory restaurant is the best place to start your day with a locally sourced breakfast and is also a great place to end your day with freshly homemade food. With panoramic views over the Pentland firth and beyond. Simply sit, eat and enjoy watching the passing ships or the many birds that fly past.

Our restaurant can accommodate up to 30 covers, and is the perfect venue for coach parties, special occasions and meetings.

Our bar is the perfect place to unwind from a day of exploring and making memories. Sit near the cosy fire and enjoy the company of your friends whilst sampling local beers and gins. Or sit up at the bar and listen to tales of the friendly local people whilst enjoying our wide variety of beers, whiskies and gins.

Our bar and restaurant are open to residents and non residents.

Hoy and South Walls is rich in history and nature. You don't need to wander far to find historical landmarks such as the Dwarfie stane. There are a number of remnants of the world wars such as the Martello tower and the Lyness Royal Naval Cemetery. There is wildlife and nature on our doorstep, from birds such as hen harriers and great skuas to plants such as the rare Scottish Primrose Primula scotica. At the north end of the island there is a large nature reserve and also the stunning Rackwick bay as well as the famous sea stack 'the old man of Hoy'.

Our islands are very well connected with daily ferries travelling from Stromness or Houton to Moaness and Lyness and even Flotta. We have a community bus which runs along side the ferry timetable as well as a private taxi service.
