Born and raised in Orkney, jeweller Stewart Moar draws much of his inspiration from the landscape and heritage of his island homeland, but he also has a flair for the contemporary with a highly distinctive signature style.
Stewart established his own business in 2000, after a long career in the local jewellery manufacturing industry. His vision has always been to produce work of exceptional quality using traditional skills and methods, rather than rely on machines. Stewart personally designs all of his pieces, crafting and finishing his intricate jewellery by hand.
Scottish, Celtic and Norse influences can be seen in Stewart’s work, but he also explores more modern and abstract themes, with an extensive range of jewellery to suit every taste and pocket. His stunning dragon brooches, rings, pendants and earrings remain among his most popular items, but he also works to commission and will design and make whatever his customers might desire.
Stewart’s workshop is on the Orkney Craft Trail, situated close to Maeshowe and the Standing Stones of Stenness, and he’s always happy to welcome visitors. His jewellery is also widely available throughout Orkney.
