Rymmon Lodge is ideally located for those seeking a peaceful rural retreat.
The Lodge is in Evie - Costa, a 30-minute drive from Kirkwall or Stromness, the two main towns on the Orkney Mainland.
The lodge is well equipped, home from home, cosy and comfortable and has gas central heating. The feature BBQ/seating area is an excellent facility for spending time outdoors during the long summer evenings and there is also a fire pit to make the experience more enjoyable. Sun chairs and table are located in the Shed. The Lodge is situated in a rural area with stunning views of the area and beyond. A car is necessary although there is a bus route on the main road approximately 1 mile from the Lodge.
If the weather is unkind, there is a range of books, DVD’s and games. The lodge has its own shed where outdoor clothing, cycles etc. can be stored.
The lodge is situated within walking distance of Swanney Loch, there is free Brown Trout fishing available for enthusiasts.
The Birsay moors, an RSPB reserve also provides a view to the side of the lodge. There are regular sightings of hen harrier and short-eared owl along with many other birds such as Curlew, Redshank and Lapwings which favour the rough grassland around the lodge site.
Evie has a sandy beach just a short drive away.
Local facilities such as shopping - Co-op at Dounby and fuel, a GP surgery at Dounby and Post Office are within a 15-20 minutes drive away. The local Mistra store is a short drive away also having a post office and a little bit of everything and is always well stocked. It is an ideal base to explore the many attractions of the West Mainland and the ferry terminal to the island of Rousay and the smaller isles is also within easy reach - Tingwall.
Private parking for two cars is available alongside the lodge.
We cater for short stays - from 1 night onwards and we are open all throughout the year for bookings.
