Telling the rich and varied story of Rousay including detailed information on its archaeology, natural heritage, wildlife habitats, geology and people, the Heritage Centre is a great place to begin a visit to the island. It's also an ideal destination for anyone interested in researching their family history, ancestry and genealogy.

The display was entirely revamped and extended in 2021 by Rhona Jenkins and Gail Drinkall for Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre Heritage SCIO as part of the North Isles Landscape Partnership Scheme [NILPS].

As well as the striking display panels which combine stunning photographs with accessible text, there is also much additional information via an Infopoint or downloadable via QR codes.

The centre is open daily until the last ferry sailing of the day. Public toilets are also available.
