St. Margaret's Hope
Richmond Villa is a homely Bed & Breakfast, run by Margaret and Duncan, in the picturesque village of St Margaret’s Hope. We are open all year (excluding Christmas & New Year) and offer guests a warm welcome, whether they are in Orkney for business or pleasure. Our rooms are cosy and well equipped to ensure a comfortable stay. We also offer special packages, which include Dinner and Packed Lunches, if you are lucky to be staying when Duncan checks his creels, you can enjoy fresh shellfish for Dinner – it’s sure to be the highlight of your holiday!
We are based only 5 minutes from the Pentland Ferry terminal and there is a local bus service which passes every hour. Just across the road there is a public car park with facilities to charge electric cars. In the village itself is a short stroll from Richmond Villa, there are a number of local shops, pubs and restaurants. Nearby, there is a Golf Course, Bowling Green, Community Garden and Children's Play Park, as well as 2 Galleries.
The Sands of Wright is just 2 miles from St Margaret’s Hope, here you will find a lovely sandy beach and during the summer months there is an abundance of wild birds and nature walks.
In the nearby village of Burray there is a newly opened Crazy Golf Course which is the most northerly in the UK!
From South Ronaldsay, you travel across the Churchill Barriers to reach the Orkney Mainland. These man-made causeways provides some amazing views across Scapa Flow and pass the famous Italian Chapel, built by Italian Prisoners of War in WWII, which is well worth a visit.
