Regrow is a Shapinsay-based social enterprise dedicated to preventative wholebeing. Offering community programmes, retreats, breathwork, and events that help people and communities across Orkney thrive together.
Regrow is a community interest company (CIC) based on Shapinsay, Orkney, dedicated to supporting personal and collective wellbeing across Orkney's Mainland and Isles. Founded by Alison McDougall, Regrow creates accessible, community-led spaces for connection, creativity, and everyday wellbeing, rooted in the belief that thriving communities are built through shared experiences, meaningful contribution, and care for one another.
What We Offer Regrow offers a range of wellbeing programmes, experiences, and events:
- Conscious Connected Breathwork - monthly community sessions in Kirkwall at Noust Studio, and private sessions available. Breathwork supports emotional regulation, stress relief, and deep relaxation.
- Yin Yoga - slow, restorative yoga practice supporting physical and emotional wellbeing.
- Retreats - immersive wholebeing retreats combining breathwork, yoga, nature connection, and creative practice.
- Community Wellbeing Programmes - collaborative, community-led initiatives supporting preventative wellbeing across Shapinsay and Orkney.
- Orkney Wellbeing Festival - a month-long community-led festival taking place across Orkney's Mainland and Isles in September / October 2026.
Our Approach Regrow's work is rooted in preventative wellbeing, focusing on the everyday tools, connections, and experiences that help people feel well before challenges arise. Rather than addressing symptoms, Regrow supports the conditions that allow individuals and communities to thrive: purpose and meaning, movement and rest, learning and creativity, connection and contribution, and supportive spaces for emotional expression.
Regrow is inspired by the Human Thriving framework, bringing together Tal Ben-Shahar's SPIRE model of personal wellbeing (Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Relational, Emotional), Isaac Prilleltensky's work on collective wellbeing, and Gabor Maté's work on the environmental conditions that support healthy human development.
Orkney Wellbeing Festival 2026: Regrow coordinates the Orkney Wellbeing Festival, a community-led, month-long festival supporting individual and collective wellbeing across Orkney. Building on the success of the 2024 Shapinsay Wellbeing & Climate Festival — which engaged over 20% of the island's population — the 2026 Festival will bring together artists, practitioners, community groups, and island communities across Orkney to co-create a shared programme of wholebeing-focused activities.
