The Reel Orkney Tradfest is an annual Festival of Traditional music in Kirkwall, Orkney each October, hosted by The Wrigley Sisters. It features workshops, classes, and concerts led by visiting world class traditional musicians.

The Winter School has been growing in size every year and this year we are excited to be bringing together accordionist Freeland Barbour (Scotland), fiddler and singer ‘Nollaig Casey’(Ireland), guitarist , ‘Arty McGlynn’ (Ireland), and the amazing ‘Brian Connolly ’ (Belfast) on Banjo and Mandolin and of course The Wrigley Sisters (Orkney) on fiddle and guitar, plus many local musicians.

How to Get Here
Drive NorthLink Ferries sail between Aberdeen and Kirkwall(taking 7 hours three times per week) or go from Scrabster to Stromness (which operates twice daily with a duration of 90 mins.)

There is also a catamaran operated by Pentland Ferries from Gills Bay, near John O’ Groats to St Margaret’s
Hope in South Ronaldsay (sailing twice daily and takes 60mins).Take your vehicle or simply walk on.

Fly with Loganair. Flights are available from Glasgow (60 minutes), Edinburgh (60 minutes), Inverness (45 minutes), Aberdeen (50 minutes) and Shetland (35 minutes); most also have good links to other national and international airports.

Train/Bus services are operated from Inverness to Thurso and Wick or to Aberdeen from Edinburgh, Glasgow or London. The Caledonian Sleeper service runs from London Euston to Aberdeen or Inverness 6 days a week.
