Peedie Kirkwall Cakes started its cake journey in 2013 by myself Marie Logan, after redundancy from my Business Banking career helped me make the decision to do something I enjoy. I'm completely self taught and have loved every challenge each cake has given me. It has been a absolute pleasure being involved in so many special occasions in Orkney from weddings to christenings, birthdays to cake replicas for businesses. I have loved making every single one!

The biggest thing I have loved being able to do with my cakes is to raise money for local charities. My cake followers have helped me raise money for Clan and the Balfour Maternity unit and more recently they helped me raise over £2000 for Cardiac Risk in the Young in memory of local lass Freya Dalrymple and over £1000 for Papdale Play Park Association.

Making cakes has also given me the chance to travel further than Orkney to provide wedding cakes and birthday cakes. I've been involved in a few wedding in the Aberdeen area.

I recently celebrated my little business' 8th birthday. I've been lucky enough to build up a strong customer base in Orkney which see's me currently fully booked in January 2025. I'm very lucky to have the amazing support of my customers in Orkney.

We are lucky to have so many amazing producers and sellers of fine produce in Orkney which meant the world to me when I won Best Peedie Product in 2018.

I've also teamed up with a local photographer, Dawn Simison Photography. Together we offer Cake Smash photoshoots which are amazing fun to work on, see the kids and adults have fun and Dawn has a flair of catching those buttercream smiles for the families involved.

I've also teamed up with local business to create bespoke cakes for their businesses. I have created a replica of the new premises for John G. Corse Funeral Directors. The MV Alfred was recreated for Pentland Ferries. I've also had the pleasure of recreating the Black Watch and Marco Polo cruise ships for big events while they were docked in Orkney.
