Covid 19

Owlswood Lodge is open for business . We have followed all the recommendations regarding cleaning and keep up to date with changes of restrictions etc . We are 'Ready to Go'! In order to keep guests and ourselves safe , we have decided to reduce our availability and have a week between all guests to minimise any risk of transmitting the virus and allow adequate time to clean. We are using Oxy bleach and other environmentally friendly cleaning products and have provided suitable cleaning products in the house . We would like to encourage guests to remember to sanitse frequently and wash hands on leaving and returning to the house . Our availability page on our website is up to date . We are happy to return deposits if a cancellation is Covid related . Please note - we ourselves may still have to cancel if for any reason we are unable to honor the booking eg we test positive to Covid and have to isolate .

Owlswood Lodge is a traditional house with flag stone floors and multi fuel stove but with all the advantages of modern facilities. The house embraces green tourism utilizing a ground source heat pump and 5Kw wind turbine.

All electric, linen and towels included in price. Wheelchair users are welcome - we have a level access shower and rails in the main bathroom. Facilites include a hot tub.

There are wonderful unrestricted views over Scapa Flow and the south isles. From the window you can see the Royal Oak buoy and enjoy the wonderful changing light on the Gaitnip cliffs. Birds and wildlife are guaranteed - hen harriers and hares are common sights both from the house and in the adjacent Hobbister RSPB reserve. There is plenty outside space with an enclosed garden and access to a small woodland. Dogs are welcome too by arrangement.

Just a very short drive away is Waulkmill Bay - a fantastic beach, perfect for paddling and picnics. In fact, all of Orkney is just a short drive away with Owlswood Lodge being located in the heart of Orkney - Just 3 miles from Kirkwall and all of it's amenities.
