The company has expanded over the years, now specialising in marine works, metal works and fabrication, welding, pipework, repair and corrosion prevention, project management and design in the oil and gas, renewables, fishing and aquaculture, marine, decommissioning and power and utilities sectors.

As we celebrate 30 years in business, Ocean Kinetics is delighted to have completed the purchase of another long-standing engineering business of some 38 years: Hamnavoe Engineering in Stromness, Orkney.

We very much look forward to building on the excellent engineering services that the company already provides in Orkney, and will be expanding to deliver a high-quality fabrication facility, which will include coded welding, on site machining, and induction heating.

We plan to retain the Stromness base for 12 to 18 months, while we establish a new facility in Hatston, Kirkwall, with modern machinery and equipment. The new premises will also be stocked with a range of metals, fittings and fixings. In addition, we will have full back up from our modern workshops and design offices in Shetland, as well as two workshops in Aberdeen – all of which mean that we have the resources available to respond quickly to our customers’ needs.
