An annual festival to help build and repair dry stone dykes around the shoreline of North Ronaldsay to protect the island’s unique seaweed eating sheep.

Volunteers from all over the world are welcomed to North Ronaldsay for the two weeks of the festival (July/August) and take part in a dyke building programme in the mornings and afternoons, rewarded by evening events, North Ronaldsay hospitality, and the opportunity to learn new skills and strike up new friendships. This is a great opportunity to help out a remote island community while also experiencing the island’s unique culture and heritage.

A daily festival report can be found on the website.
