Built in 1900 and now beautifully renovated, How Farmhouse is a luxurious and spacious family retreat. How blends historic character with fresh, stylish design featuring an impressive open-plan kitchen, sweeping sea views from every room, a stunning roll-top bathroom with adjoining sauna suite, and four uniquely styled bedrooms. How Farmhouse, overlooking Kettletoft harbour offers comfort, charm and coastal tranquillity in equal measure.
Built in 1900, How farmhouse has recently been fully renovated to provide a spacious and luxurious family retreat. Formerly the home of the estate’s farm manager, How was, and still is one of the most fertile and productive farms on the island. We have selectively reflected the farm’s history in the interior dressing, as well as indulging our penchant for quirky and stylish design ideas.
The spacious family kitchen built around a huge aga includes an American fridge and all the appliances and equipment you could need. The kitchen is open-plan to the farmhouse dining room, its huge traditional table seating eight or more. This, in turn opens onto to a family sitting room which gives breathtaking elevated views over Kettletoft bay and harbour to the island of Stronsay beyond. A second sitting room provides another comfortable space to relax.
At How Farmhouse, restful nights come naturally. Sleeping up to eight guests, the farmhouse offers four beautifully styled bedrooms, each with its own character, calming colour palette and views across the surrounding countryside and sea. Thoughtfully furnished with our signature cloud-like beds, crisp linens and soft throws, every room has been designed to feel welcoming, comfortable and quietly luxurious.
At How Farmhouse, the sense of space extends far beyond the walls of the house. Perched above Kettletoft Bay, the farmhouse enjoys sweeping views across fertile farmland, sparkling sea and the neighbouring island of Stronsay beyond. Here, horizons stretch for miles, skies seem endless, and the pace of life slows to the rhythm of the island.
