Eviedale Bakehouse, Orkney's first dedicated sourdough bakery with wood fired sourdough pizza.
Located the heart of Evie village in the West Mainland of Orkney, we are Orkney's dedicated Sourdough bakery creating slow fermented sourdough bread & pastries. We champion slow food and also produce a range of wood fired sourdough pizzas to cook at home, these can be pre-ordered to collect in Evie, or at the Brig Larder, Kirkwall.
We are a scratch bakery working with slow prooved sourdough vienoisserie & bread. Our croissant dough is 5 days in the making, using cultured butter, organic flour and free range eggs, everything is made and shaped by hand on site here in Evie. No additives or flour improvers, using flour milled in the uk. Our bread is prooved over 48 hours and hand shaped and baked in our artisan steam ovens.
Our main baking day is Thursday, you can visit our honesty shop where you can buy our freshly baked sourdough bread (Fridays) and sourdough pastries (Thursdays), such as sourdough plain, chocolate or almond croissants, cinnamon swirls, danish pastries and our extremely popular sourdough Cruffins, a cross between a muffin and a croissant but think think delicious custard donut, filled with our freshly made Creme Patissiere.
check out our range of new Sourdough Beremeal crackers, using the local bere barley, an ancient grain grown in Orkney, also available in our honesty shop and at other retailers in Orkney. Also available in our honesty shop are tubs of our house made gelato (italian style ice cream) and our delectable gourmet Belgian chocolate brownies.
