The inspiration for my designs comes from my passion for the changing light and natural colour palette of my surroundings.
The striking landscape, sea, sky, nature, the history and culture of the islands where our family originated and have lived our life all influence my work, and each piece is carefully handcrafted to a high standard, where no two are the same.
All my work is designed, assembled, and fired in my kilns at my home studio in Deerness, Orkney. My glass art often involves multiple firings and a range of techniques and cold working, including developing my own drawings into screens to screen print in enamel between the layers of glass, painting with enamels and powders, building intricate freeform designs from glass powder, and kiln-formed gravity drop vessels and jewellery.
I am a member of the Contemporary Glass Society and my work is appearing in collections around the world. You can view more of my work via the gallery below and on my social media profiles whilst my official website is under construction.
