With the sound of the sea and the call of the curlew as your only disturbance Corks offers you complete peace and tranquility.
Perched on the hillside for over a hundred years this semi ruined cottage had become a welcome home to roosting pigeons until 2002 when it was completely renovated and restored to a typical Orkney stone built cottage. The reclaimed oak floor with underfloor heating runs throughout and the oak dresser and pine kitchen table and chairs help to retain the traditional feel of the cottage.
The generous bed has all cotton linen with down duvet and pillows, whilst the small second bedroom has full size bunk beds. The uninterrupted views to the sea - a mile to the west - and the lochs and distant hills to the east give a feeling of being 'on top of the world'!
The cottage has complete privacy with parking at the door and a small lawned area to the front. Corks is situated in the West Mainland which has most of the important archaeological sites in Orkney as well as breathtaking cliff walks and sandy beaches.
Among the many attractions there is an RSPB Bird Hide just below the cottage for ornithologists; trout fishing is free and boats can be hired from nearby hotels. The local award winning brewery is a few miles away which has excellent visitor facilities and a cafe. We have many return guests who clearly appreciate the relaxed and peaceful atmosphere of this 'home from home' in Orkney.
