Welcome to Carlin Skerry Bed and Breakfast, situated in a rural location with wide views over Scapa Flow and the Orkney hills.

On the edge of Orphir Village we are roughly half way between Kirkwall and Stromness. The fabulous Heart of Neolithic Orkney is just 15 minutes by car. Or you can leave it on the drive and start, just outside the door, for a country walk – perhaps to the top of Ward Hill, Orkney Mainland’s highest point, with views over all the islands.

Carlin Skerry was built in 2017 and designed with guest comfort in mind. There are two, well-appointed en-suite rooms (a twin and a double) adjoining a breakfast room / lounge, available throughout the day, with a separate entrance and for the exclusive use of guests. The entire suite can be booked privately if required.

We are close to The Earl’s Bu (the remains of a Norse drinking hall) and The Orkneyinga Saga Centre. Houton pier for ferries to Hoy and Flotta is close by. From the Bu you can walk along the cliff path to the fabulous beach at Swanbister – one of the best places in Orkney for sea ducks and wading birds at different seasons. Don’t forget your binoculars.
