Burnside is a Holiday House located in Palace Village, Birsay. It is located next to the beach and close to many natural and heritage attractions. Burnside is well equipped and offer a comfortable and relaxing stay right next to the beautiful Orkney Coast.
Burnside is located in the Palace Village, right next to the Burn of Boardhouse and metres from the sea. The house is less than a minutes walk from Palace Stores where a variety of essentials and treats such as home baking and ice creams can be purchased. Also in the village are the St Magnus Kirk and the 16th Century Earl's Palace as well as the award winning Birsay Bay Tearoom.
Within minutes of the house you will find great beaches and rock pools for exploring, walking and relaxing. The area is alive with wildlife and you are likely to spot numerous bird species as well as seals, if you are lucky you may even see whales and otters.
The Brough of Birsay is about a ten minute walk away and accessible at low tide. There is a Norse settlement to visit as well as a good chance of seeing puffins in the right season. The St Magnus Way and the coastal route from Birsay to Stromness are easily accessible on foot from the house and offer some of the most breathtaking coastal and cliff scenery in Orkney. The route takes in the Kitchener memorial, Marwick Head and the famous cliffs of Yesnaby.
The World Heritage Sites of Skara Brae, Maeshowe and the Ring of Brodgar are all within an easy driving distance of Burnside. For fishing enthuiasts, there are numerous fishing lochs closeby including Boardhouse and Harray.
The house is well equipped and Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are all provided for your stay. Patio doors in the sitting room allow easy access to the large garden in good weather and for chillier evenings there is a log burning stove.
