Nestled on the shore of Kirkwall Bay, Macfoys Brewery & Bar stands as a celebration of modern craftsmanship, traditional brewing and creativity. The brewery was founded by a group of passionate brewers and brewery designers who shared a vision of producing distinctive, high-quality beers that reflect both tradition and creativity.

Macfoys philosophy centres on authenticity and tradition as well as pushing the boundaries and experimentation.

Each brew is crafted using the best quality grains and hops, matched with the dedication and experience of the master brewer and his team. Our Beers are brewed in 2000lt batches ensuring freshness, and flavour integrity in every pint.

Sustainability is at the heart of Macfoys operations. The brew house is a new 10bbl semi-automatic system capable of producing 4000 pints a week, it was designed and manufactured in Scotland to our specification and incorporates many energy efficient & labour-saving elements. All bottling, keg filling & packaging is done on site ensuring true fresh beer as well as keeping our environmental impact to a minimum.

Macfoys core range features a diverse range of styles designed to appeal to both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Macfoys Hazy Pale Ale offers a crisp, citrus-forward profile with a balanced bitterness, our gluten free Classic Lager is an instant favourite, while our Red Ale delivers rich notes of roasted malt and a subtle sweetness of caramel. Our IPA and Stout, showcase the brewery’s creativity and connection to the changing seasons. We also have our newly released Alcohol-Free IPA available in 500ml bottle & keg. We also plan to have seasonal releases & collaboration brews.

Beyond brewing, Macfoys is deeply involved in the community, hosting charity events, live music nights, supporting local clubs and showing live sports fixtures on our 98” screen, all bringing locals & visitors together, socialising in our spacious 110-seat taproom & events space.

Macfoys taproom offers a warm, inviting atmosphere where both locals and visitors can enjoy freshly poured pints, brewery tours and tasting flights with uninterrupted views looking over Kirkwall Bay. With its modern industrial interior, open brewing area, and friendly staff, the space embodies the spirit of craft brewing-welcoming, creative, and full of character.

Macfoys Brewery & Bar has capacity for 110 people and is available for private hire, for example Weddings, Birthday Parties, Reunions, Charity, Social and Club Events.
