Archive Coffee is based in the heart of Kirkwall & serves delicious fresh food, great coffee and fantastic home bakes.

The food combines contemporary edgy cuisine with classic dishes, all of which use the best locally sourced produce. The talented young Owner & Head Chef Gary Sutherland regularly refreshes the menu, offering a selection of main meals and lighter options leaving something for everyone at any time of day. Archive is a regular haunt and favourite of TV chef Phil Vickery who enjoys a trip to see us whilst visiting Orkney.

Food is served on the premises all day and we also have an all day Brunch menu which is available as takeaway.

You will have a tough decision to make when you browse the selection of cakes & bakes which are produced on the premises by Rebecca Harrold, whose cakes and cupcakes have been a sensation across our social media feeds on a regular basis. You can enjoy these sweet treats in the spacious surroundings the café or buy some to take home and share with friends and family.

Archive Coffee's front of house team is lead by Nicholas Taylor who has a rich background in barista work. Archive has two coffee's available in the cafe which are Glasgow's own 'Dear Green' and own blend 'Archive Espresso' by The Orkney Roastery, alongside a regularly changing guest coffee. You can also choose from a wide selection of teas, hot chocolate and soft drinks. Coffee is available to take away or you can also purchase retail packs of beans or ground coffee to use at home at the bar.

As well as great coffee, the staff are also passionate about craft beer. Offering draft beers from Swannay Brewery, Brewdog & Cromarty Brewing Co. plus many more craft beers in bottles and cans and stock a range of Orkney's local gins. In February 2018 they hosted the very first Orkney Gin Festival. Archive Coffee also has a full off sales licence so you can stock up on beer and spirits at competitive prices.

Most recently in 2022, the cafe won two awards at the 'Taste of Orkney Food & Drink awards' for Best Cafe or Tearoom & also Best Kids meal
