The Old Manse
At Annie's Place a very warm, helpful greeting awaits you, (although now at two metres distance). Our comfortable, cosy and well equipped ground floor apartment is in the centre of the quiet, historic village of Palace on the shoreline of Birsay Bay, West Mainland.
We are following official Covid19 guidance to keep our guests and ourselves safe. You can keep up to date with the safety measures we are taking and our availability by checking our website : www.anniesplaceorkney.co.uk .
Annie’s Place is a self- catering apartment within the 18th century St Magnus Kirk Manse in Palace, Birsay, the ancient capital of Orkney. The beaches and rock pools of Birsay Bay, with birds and seals always in sight, are just over the garden wall. The cliff walks of the St Magnus Way, along the rugged West Mainland coastline, are accessible on foot from the doorstep. The Norse settlement on the Brough of Birsay is a short walk away, while the Kitchener (Hampshire) Memorial is reached by means of the cliff walk to Marwick Head. The archaeological World Heritage sites (Skara Brae, Maeshowe and the Ring of Brodgar), local museums, RSPB reserves and fishing lochs are close by. Information about all there is to see and do in Orkney is available in Annie's Place and all are easily accessible by car or local ferries.
Anne and Robin Barr regularly redecorate and refubish this cosy and well equipped apartment. Guests give 5 star reviews highlighting the welcome, cleanliness and comfort of Annie's Place, and highly recommend it as providing an ideal holiday experience. A welcome for children is also important; books, games, buckets and spades are provided to add to their holiday fun. This groundfloor apartment is also suitable for those with limited mobility. Your well behaved dog can also enjoy your holiday with us.
Central heating, full kitchen facilities, TV, games, books and Wi-Fi internet are inclusive, as are all bed linen and towels. St Magnus Kirk and the 16th Century Earl's Palace is the view from your window. Up the road is the working Barony Mill, and Kirbuster Firehoose, while the village shop is just next door and the award winning Birsay Bay Tearoom is within 300 yards of your doorstep.
We look forward to welcoming you to Annie's Place over and over again!
