The Old Manse
Annie’s Place has WorldHost status to ensure your welcome is the best Scotland can provide.
We are already welcoming pre-booked guests to Annie's Place and are following all the official guidance to keep our guests and ourselves safe. The first available date we have for new bookings is Thursday 29th October 2020 onwards. If you want to check out our website and blog (www.anniesplaceorkney.co.uk) you can keep up to date with the safety measures we are taking and our availability.
It is just where you'd wish to be staying for your Orkney holiday: a self- catering apartment within the historic 18th century St Magnus Kirk Manse in Palace, Birsay; the ancient capital of Orkney. It's on the rugged West Mainland where archaeological World Heritage sites (Skara Brae, Maeshowe and the Ring of Brogar) and RSPB reserves are close by, and cliff walks and fishing lochs are within immediate reach. The beaches and rock pools of Birsay Bay with birds and seals always in sight, are just over the garden wall. The Norse settlement at the Brough of Birsay is just down the road, the Kitchener (Hampshire) Memorial is up the cliff walk on Marwick Head and the 16th Century Earl's Palace is the view from your window.
Anne and Robin Barr have redecorated and refurnished the apartment with additional thought for those with limited mobility, exceeding the level required to earn their 3 star award from Visit Scotland. The cosy, comfortable and uncluttered accommodation offers a real home-from-home holiday experience, tailored to suit you. A welcome for children is also important; books, games, buckets and spades are provided to add to their holiday fun.
Central heating, full kitchen facilities, TV, games, books and Wi-Fi internet are inclusive, as are all bed linen and towels. A welcome breakfast hamper will be on your table by arrival. Weather permitting, you can borrow a pair of bicycles for exploring the wider area, or you can relax in the shelter of the manse flower garden. Up the road is the working Barony Mill, next door is the well-stocked village shop and the award winning Birsay Bay Tearoom is within 300 yards of your doorstep. Your well behaved pet dog can also enjoy your holiday with us.
We look forward to welcoming you to Annie's Place over and over again!
