Community Development Co-ordinator

VAO provides vital advice, guidance, training and resources to support the development and sustainability of our local third sector. We have an exciting opportunity to join Voluntary Action Orkney (VAO) as a Community Development Co-ordinator, which is at the heart of this activity.

The Community Development Coordinator role involves working proactively with communities, voluntary organisations, charities and social enterprises across the whole of Orkney, to promote excellence in organisational development through providing advice and guidance, information, support services and training. Key aspects of the role include building capacity, growth and resilience; encouraging sustainability; understanding third sector needs; facilitating communication, co-operation and collaboration, and engaging with key agencies.

The post holder will be required to work in a flexible manner as part of the wider Development Team which also supports volunteer and youth development. Relevant experience and knowledge of community development, alongside a high level of PC literacy are required for the role.
