CLEANING & MAINTENANCE OPERATIVE

Donaldsons of Orkney, a well-established and historic butcher’s shop in the heart of Kirkwall, is looking for the right person to take care of our facilities and carry out cleaning and maintenance duties. The goal is to keep our building in a clean and orderly condition to meet both legal requirements and the excellent standards our customers expect and deserve. 

A cleaner in a butcher shop is responsible for maintaining high hygiene standards by cleaning and sanitizing work areas, machinery (such as mincers and bandsaws), knives, and floors to comply with health regulations. Key tasks include daily cleaning tasks, deep cleaning, waste removal, building maintenance, and adhering to sanitation schedules. The role requires physical stamina, knowledge of cleaning chemicals, and attention to detail. 

This is an important and respected role within the company; we are seeking an individual who will take ownership of the role and commit to Donaldsons' values; care, quality, and reliability.
Previous experience in a cleaning or maintenance role would be preferable but is not essential, as full training will be given.
