THE STORY SO FAR

Since moving to Orkney in 1998 and establishing a small tearoom in the conservatory of my house, the business then grew with the building in 2002 of a new Gallery/Workshop and the addition in 2006 of Appie's Tea Room. By 2012 I had worn myself out and so, sadly the tearoom had to close. As part of my recovery I discovered the immense joys of spinning and haven't looked back since. Fast forward 10 years and not only have I developed a passion for all things woolly, converted the tearoom into a house (in which we now live) but in 2021 my new studio/workshop was built.

I'm very sad to say however, that now in 2024, due to the installation of a gate across the neighbouring property,(thus severely restricting the turning space for vehicles), my workshop is now closed to visitors.

Thanks to all my previous customers for making the trek up the long track to my little blue cabin on the hill and sorry to all those potential customers who will unfortunately never have the experience.

Should any of you still wish to see my handspun Orkney yarns, Handwoven scarves or knitting kits, I will in future be exhibiting at some of the various craft fairs in Kirkwall throughout the season, so please give me a call (01856 841487) to see if any of them coincide with your visit to Orkney.

So, Appies Arty Yarns workshop is now closed to the public....it's  a very sad day!
