As part of 'Stromness Glimmers: A Festival of Light' this month, a special workshop will be held offering young and old the chance to get involved in the event.
‘Stromness Glimmers: A Festival of Light’, from the Móti Collective group of art graduates based in Orkney, will brighten the town with more than 20 light-based artworks distributed between the Pier Head and the Museum, including moving-image projections, sculptures and more, between 12-14 November.
In the run-up to the festival, adults and children over the age of six are invited to join a free, drop-in workshop on creative writing and shadow play on Saturday 7 November between 11am and 3pm at Stromness Community Centre Nursery Hall. The hands-on session will include creative writing and experiments with light and shadow. Children should be accompanied by an adult, but adults do not need to be accompanied by a child!
This interactive workshop will be run by writer Gaby Barnby and Móti artists Kerrianne Flett and Mal Grieve. Work created during this workshop will then be made into a short film and exhibited as part of the festival itself.
