Join our Historic Environment Scotland Rangers for a walk around one of the oldest stone circles and the nearby neolithic Village of Barnhouse.

Prepare to step back in time over 5000 years, as the Standing Stones of Stenness could actually be the oldest henge monument in the UK. Four enormous stones make up the site, which originally held 12 stones. Those that remain measure up to 6m in height, surrounding a large hearth.

The Standing Stones of Stenness are part of the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site, and this guided walk provides insight into the history of the stones, as well as some of the secrets of the site. The walk also includes a visit the nearby Barnhouse Neolithic village.

Walks are held at 10am, lasting around an hour. They're free and there is no need to book. Meet at the site entrance.
