Join in Orkney's St Magnus Day celebrations and the launch of the new St Magnus Way guidebook.

Saturday 15 April will see the official launch of the St Magnus Way Walking and Cycling Guidebook with a short ceremony at the Birsay Community Centre.

To mark the occasion, Cycling UK Development Officer, Magdalena Choluj, will be running a Dr Bike session between 10am and 12pm at which you can have a basic safety check carried out on your bike, and there will be variety of different bikes to try out.

At 11am, Lord Lieutenant Elaine Grieve, guidebook author David Mazza and publisher Jacquetta Megarry, will give short presentations on the book itself. Copies will be available along with tea and coffee. Everyone is invited to this significant moment for the St Magnus Way. The books cost £14.99 and will be available with cash sales only. From April 15th the guidebook will be available in many places including the Pilgrim Table in St Magnus Cathedral and the St Magnus Centre.

At 12pm there will be a family cycling tour of six miles, starting at the Birsay Community Centre and stopping for a packed lunch at the RSPB Loons for a talk by RSPB staff, before returning by back roads to the Centre finishing by 2pm. 20 places are available and must be pre-booked.

These events are free and any donations to the St Magnus Way will be welcome.
