Visit the historic 'firehoose' at Kirbuster Farm Museum to find out more about a very special Orcadian food.

'Sooans' will showcase how the traditional oat dish is made, and visitors will be able to get hands-on with querning and sieving the oats. Dr Veronica Sinotte will host two short talks on the microbiology of oat fermentation, and there will even be some sooan scones available to taste.

It all takes place at Kirbuster Farm Museum on Saturday 3 October between 11am and 4pm, with Veronica's talks to be held at 11.30am and 2pm. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.

The event is held in partnership with the Sowens Solutions project, made up of UHI Archaeology Institute, University of Copenhagen, and James Hutton Institute, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
