Join us for a free, family-friendly workshop with artist Jenny Pope in Stromness Library during Stromness Shopping Week.

As part of the Stromness Shopping Week community festival, we are hosting a family-friendly Seaweed Art and Craft Workshop with artist Jenny Pope on Wed 22 July 2026 in the Corrigall Room at Stromness Library. Crafters of all ages and abilities are welcome to join us at this free, drop-in event and:

  • Learn about Orkney seaweeds past and present, linking them to the recently digitalised specimens in Stromness Museum's Natural History collection.
  • Learn about the Shoggly Holm floating sculpture and underwater sea life hotel mooring in Stromness Harbour. Discover what seaweeds have colonised it over the past year.
  • Have a go at some seaweed crafts, such as creating a seaweed wall hanging to take home and a community craft piece for public display.

Come and find us at Stromness Library from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Wed 22 July.
