Orkney Arts Society are delighted to present a special rescheduled event from our visual arts section: a talk and tour by jewellery designer Sheila Fleet of her workshops at the Kirk Gallery and Cafe in Tankerness on Tuesday 12th November 2024 at 10.00am.
Sheila Fleet OBE has a thriving jewellery business based in Orkney with five retail locations across Scotland with two in Orkney and the Kirk Café beside her Tankerness workshops that has become a favourite destination for Orkney folk and visitors. Every aspect of her business has her creative hand from designing jewellery ranges, shops and café interiors to the tasty menus that brings a loyal following. Shiela is always keen to encourage young artists and commissions skilled artisans for presenting her business in a special atmosphere and visual effect that delights all who visit.
Sheila has invited us on a tour of her workshops and will talk about her inspirations and her artistry that have influenced her early career and then business in Orkney for over 30 years.
You will join her at 10.00am on Tuesday 12th November 2024 for a talk and then two consecutive workshop tours will be arranged in two groups of 15. Tea/coffee and scones with cream and jam will included.
After the tour the new Christmas displays and shop will be open and Sheila has kindly offered a 15% discount for all those attending in advance of their Christmas promotions.
Attendees who would like to follow on with lunch should make their own bookings separately.
This promises to be a sparking event and a rare opportunity to hear Sheila’s special insights into her art and design process.
