Visit St Magnus Cathedral in August to see beautiful displays from the Kirkwall Flower Arrangement Club.

The annual Flower Festival transforms the cathedral with colourful arrangements all focused on a special theme. Members use their imagination and skill to depict the theme in their floral displays.

For 2026, the theme is 'Myths and Legends'. The Flower Festival will be open to the public from 10am on Wednesday 12 August, coming to a close at 4pm on Sunday 16 August - see full opening times below.

The funds raised by donation each year go to the Society of the Friends of St Magnus Cathedral to help with the upkeep of the cathedral.

Please note there will be limited access to the cathedral when the arrangements are being set-up on Tuesday 11 August.

The opening times for this year's Flower Festival are:

Wednesday 12 August: 10am to 8pm

Thursday 13, Friday 14, and Saturday 15 August: 9am to 6pm

Sunday 16 August: 1pm to 4pm
