Join award-winning Orkney fiddle player Jennifer Wrigley for a special Hogmanay concert in St Magnus Cathedral.

Now based in England, the musician and composer behind 'Air for Dr John Rae' and An Orkney Tribute to Dr Edvard Kobal' is an Associate Artist at Scotland’s national music academy in Glasgow, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Returning with a Hogmanay concert St Magnus Cathedral for the third year in a row, Jennifer will join her 'Reel Fiddlers', an ensemble of talented local past and present music students of all ages, who will form an accompanying ensemble for the performance.

Alongside Jennifer will be trad pianist, Laurence Wilson. He appeared briefly on Orkney’s music scene in the mid-late 80s when as a youngster his love of traditional music grew after his father Len Wilson led a small core team of like-minded individuals to create the Orkney Traditional Folk Festival, which has become the Orkney Folk Festival. After a lengthy break from music to pursue a worldwide backstage career, Laurence has begun taking the stage again providing piano accompaniment to celebrated Scots fiddler Alastair Savage at Orkney’s St Magnus International Festival, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The performance will begin at 2:30pm on Hogmanay. Admission is free and booking is not required, though there will be a retiring collection after the performance. Guests will also receive a free sample of Highland Park whisky and a Highland Park souvenir glass too.
