Take an exclusive Curator's Tour at Stromness Museum and discover Orkney's fascinating history and heritage.

The exclusive guided tour, given by the Stromness Museum curator, will provide an informative, engaging and in-depth experience which will give you the chance to connect with people from Orkney's past via the stories behind the artefacts.

You'll discover how and why the German High Seas Fleet was scuttled in Scapa Flow, and be able to explore Orkney's connections with Canada through the Hudson’s Bay Company and the story of Orcadian Arctic explorer, John Rae.

The tour will include the museum's fascinating Natural History gallery, which is home to an amazing collection of stuffed birds, Orkney shells and geology, and the chance to meet ‘Buddo’ from Skara Brae, one of only a handful of human figurines from the British Neolithic.

The tour will take approximately 45 minutes with 15 minutes for questions. The tour costs £15 per person.

You will also receive a free copy of the Museum’s Per Mare guide book to help you explore Stromness and discover more about its history through the artefacts in the collections.

To book, phone 01856 850 025 or email custodian@stromnessmuseum.org.uk

Please note: There will be no tours from 23 September to 8 October inclusive.
