International classical duo, Sasha Savaloni and Tim Beattie perform at the first event of the year at Stromness Town Hall

Iranian-Scottish guitarist Sasha Savaloni is winner of two of the most prestigious guitar competitions in Europe: the Sevilla International Guitar Competition and the New Elizabethan Award.

His duo partner, Canadian guitarist Tim Beattie, gained international recognition after winning the Brussels International Guitar Competition. Both players have given concerts across Europe and the UK, performing in some of the most prestigious venues and with leading orchestras. Tim recently made his solo debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall.

For their concert in Stromness Town Hall they will perform a programme of guitar duos and solos spanning 400 years and featuring duos by the Spanish composers Albeniz Sor and Granados alongside solo pieces by the 16th century English composer John Dowland and Errollyn Wallen’s ‘Walking me to work’.

Tickets are available online via TicketSource or at the door if still available. Tickets are £12 for OAS Members, £16 for Non-members, £6 for Under 25’s and £3 for School pupils.
