Tour the Upper Levels of Orkney's St Magnus Cathedral.

Take a look at the fascinating upper levels of St Magnus Cathedral with special guided tours alongside a cathedral custodian. Explore the history of this beautiful building and see the clock mechanism, as well as a spectacular view of Kirkwall from the base of the spire.

Tours must be booked in advance by calling 01856 874 894. Tour times are as follows:

April, May and June:

  • Tuesdays 1100 and 1400
  • Thursdays 1100 and 1400
  • Sundays 1400 and 1545

July and August:

  • Tuesdays 1100, 1400 and 1545
  • Thursdays 1100, 1400 and 1545
  • Sundays 1400 and 1545

September:

  • Tuesdays 1100 and 1400
  • Thursdays 1100 and 1400
  • Sundays 1400 and 1545

October to March (please note, the cathedral is closed 25th & 26th December 2023, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd January 2024):

  • Thursday 1100 and 1400
  • Saturday 1100 and 1400

Participants must be 12 years or over, and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. The tour costs £10.60 per person and photography is permitted.
