Orkney Arts Society presents a talk by architectural and interior designer, Ben Pentreath OBE.

Ben is an Orkney resident and English architectural and interior designer who runs Ben Pentreath Ltd, a RIBA chartered practice, and Pentreath & Hall, which sells home furnishings. Country Life called him one of the "best country house architects in Britain” Pentreath is responsible for much of the development since 2009 of Poundbury. He has also done other work for the Duchy of Cornwall, including a development in Truro. As an interior designer he has worked on many interesting and historic houses in the UK and around the world’.

Ben will speak about some of his work and influences that appeared in his monograph, An English Vision.

Despite the title of the book, Ben’s projects are all over the UK (and indeed around the world, now) and the talk will focus particularly on Scottish themes, looking at new towns, buildings, interiors, and Ben and Charlie’s own pair of bothies on the West Coast of Scotland. In the autumn of 2024, Ben and Charlie moved to Westness, Rousay, and the talk will
conclude with some of their ideas for the restoration of the house and garden there.

The illustrated talk will be held in Stromness Town Hall on Tuesday 31 March at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5 for Orkney Arts Society members, £7 for non-members, and £2 for school pupils.
