Business Focus - Green Marine

Our latest Business Focus feature takes a closer look at one of the highly skilled members of Orkney's marine energy supply chain, Green Marine.

The Stromness-based company was launched in 2012 with the aim of supporting the emerging renewables industry in Orkney. Since then it has become a vital part of the sector, both locally and further afield, with contracts as far away as Scandinavia and France.

Working originally with re-fitted fishing boats, Green Marine has grown to a fleet of eight vessels, with a highly qualified and experienced workforce. The business also employs project managers and naval architects, working with large organisations and smaller developers to place marine energy devices in local waters. The company's work has also spread to the oil & gas sector, as well as towage and salvage services and much more.

Green Marine is part of Orkney's supply chain of companies which has a growing reputation for the quality of its work within the marine energy industry, helping the islands become a real centre of excellence in this exciting sector.
