Senior Projects Manager - Orkney Research Centre for Archaeology (ORCA and ORCA Marine)

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the dynamic environment of ORCA archaeology projects unit at Orkney College UHI. The unit provides a wide range of land-based and marine archaeological services in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and beyond.

The post holder will be required to deliver archaeological contract services from project initiation to publication, and will have overall responsibility for the management of ORCA staff. The successful applicant will manage all aspects of ORCA’s work and be responsible for the overall initiation (including making tenders, funding bids, and provision of costings and estimates), planning, control, management, co-ordination and safe implementation of a wide variety of projects, with funding from a diverse range of sources.

Applicants must hold an Honours Degree in Archaeology or equivalent. You should be a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists, or have an equivalent level of experience and a willingness to join CIfA.

Kyloe, a software and consulting business with a team throughout the UK and the US, has a number of opportunities in its Kirkwall office.

The company is looking for an Account Manager/Sales Executive to help with new business development of software products. The successful applicant will be required to establish business relationships with self-motivation essential. Experience of marketing or product positioning will be valued. Training on products will be provided.

There are also vacancies for a Database/Software Programmer and a Graduate Software Developer. The Database/Software Programmer will have a keen eye for detail and a knowledge of databases and programming. A desire to write software and some experience of MS SQL and MySQL would be desirable. The Graduate Software Developer will have some commercial experience of writing code or using web technologies. Experience with Java, C #, PHP or Javascript is desirable.

All salaries will be highly competitive and dependent on experience.
