Beautifully restored and fully renovated 'B'-listed former Coach House into guest accommodation, situated on the west side of Kirkwall. Opening spring 2024.

Nestled on the west side of Kirkwall overlooking the town and harbour, Grainbank Mews is a 200-year-old grade 'B'-listed building which we have lovingly renovated and restored over the course of 2023 & early 2024. We are excited to welcome guests to enjoy our warm hospitality in our brand-new guest rooms with modern en-suite facilities. We have 2 ground floor rooms and 2 rooms on the first floor with a breakfast room overlooking our woodland garden and the town.

Your hosts, Albert and Aileen, previously built up and ran a successful guest house in Kirkwall for over 10 years and take that knowledge and experience with us. We aim to provide an excellent standard of accommodation for visitors and travellers alike. We are both from the Orkney Islands and have a vast knowledge of the area, and can help make the most of your time during your visit. We have four children, Annie 12, Ruby 10, Eliza 6 and Bertie 2 who you may meet during your stay. We have a super friendly Hungarian Vizsla dog called Freyja too (she doesn’t go into the guest house though :) ) but for this reason we don’t accept any pets unfortunately. We like to eat out and enjoy the outdoors. We are happy to help with any information you may require to help make your stay in Orkney a memorable one.

Centrally situated, Grainbank Mews is located an easy 15-20 minute walk into the town centre or a few minutes in a car. There is an excellent selection of local shops and restaurants to choose fromm with ferry connections to some of the north isles also. There are good bus connections from the bus stop next to our guest house - this also stops at the Kirkwall bus station for onward connections. The Northlink Ferries Kirkwall terminal is situated 1.5 miles away with Kirkwall Airport located 4 miles away.

Orkney Golf Course is a 5 minute walk away.

The Pickaquoy Centre (Sports Centre) is a 10 minute walk away.

Tesco/Co-op/Lidl Supermarkets are all a 10-15 minute walk away.

The harbour is a 15 minute walk away.

The town centre (local shops and restaurants) is a 15-20 minute walk away.

Hatston Industrial estate is a 5 minute walk away.
